We Are Christ’s Ambassadors
An Embassy Called Heaven
An embassy represents the people and government of one country to those in another nation. An ambassador is officially appointed to represent the interests of their nation in the setting where their embassy is located.
The local church represents an embassy of heaven, representing King Jesus. It is an outpost for heaven’s citizens amid a perishing and often hostile world. By observing one of these embassies and the lives of Christ’s ambassadors who are associated with it, unbelievers get a glimpse of kingdom life. With allegiance to a greater king, these ambassadors speak on behalf of Christ, proclaiming a warning of judgment against the kingdom of darkness. Christ their king has commissioned them, entrusting to them the message of reconciliation. They implore those enthralled and engaged with the kingdom of darkness to be reconciled to God through Christ.
Through this embassy, and by participation in it, believers are given a taste of the kingdom of God, of their homeland, under the rule of King Jesus who alone is Lord. This helps them set their hearts on pilgrimage, realizing they are in this world but not of it. They anticipate, even long for, a coming day when they will be in their homeland, living eternally under the righteous rule of their king.
By planting local churches in communities around the world, One Mission Society is establishing thousands of embassies for the king of kings. Local people are given the opportunity to see firsthand an expression of his kingly rule in the lives of people he’s forgiven and transformed. May these embassies multiply until there is one within walking distance of every person on the planet. As this happens, more people can know and worship this awesome king!
